SAME NOSTALGIA. A NEW RITUAL.
About Daily Red.
Daily Red is a free, unofficial Pokémon fan game built around one question: can you beat RED with the team you’re given today?
ONE SUMMIT. A FRESH TEAM.
Six level 100 Pokémon, a familiar opponent and a new reason to return tomorrow. No account, download or long campaign is needed for the browser game.
The daily battle idea
Daily Red takes the shared daily challenge format people enjoy in games like Wordle and turns it into a Pokémon battle. There are no names to guess. You inspect your team, choose a lead and make decisions turn by turn: attack, set up, recover or switch.
Everyone on the same calendar date and difficulty receives the same team. Easy gives you strong, balanced teammates. Hard offers a more varied lineup that asks you to make the most of what you have. RED’s six Pokémon stay the same, so learning his team is part of improving.
Inspired by amoi-builds
This project is inspired by Daily Red by amoi-builds. Their original project brought the daily battle idea to a FireRed-based game. We credit that inspiration openly.
The Easy and Hard modes here run directly in the browser using Generation III battle mechanics. This edition adds separate difficulty records, practice attempts, visible team stats, move explanations, a live battle log and original synthesized music. The optional Emulator mode runs the archived FireRed-based version; new runs receive the browser Hard team, but its opponent decisions and battle results can differ.
Made to learn, then try again
A loss should leave you with something to try. Once your daily result is recorded, practice lets you pick another lead and test a different approach. New attempts use fresh chance rolls; refreshing an unfinished daily battle resumes its saved team, turns and rolls.
Our RED’s team reference shows his exact browser sets. The battle-rules guide explains the older physical/special system and mechanics that can feel surprising if you usually play modern Pokémon games.
Improving with player feedback
Daily Red is maintained as an independent fan project at dailyredgame.org. Player reports help us reproduce problems and add regression checks. Recent work includes more useful Hard movesets, clearer switching animations and a fix for switching after a Destiny Bond double knockout. The bell on the game page opens the latest update notes.
If something seems wrong, contact us with the challenge date, difficulty and what happened. The in-game feedback form can optionally attach battle details to help reproduce it.
Credits and independence
The browser edition has original synthesized music, a summit illustration and a custom interface. It also uses third-party battle software, Pokémon artwork and a pixel font. See our credits and sources for the distinction.
Daily Red is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon names, characters and artwork belong to their respective owners.
